Theresa Young, Executive Director of the American Red Cross, Delmarva Chapter, presented to 18

State employees in the Carvel State Office Building on September 26, 2017. The employees were primarily from our own Dept. of Human Resources (DHR), but we also had employees from the Dept. of Finance, the Lt. Governor’s Office, Criminal Justice Council, and the Dept. of Justice. Ms. Young presented on the services the Red Cross provides. Door prizes were awarded, light refreshments were served, and donations were accepted for the Red Cross.

TACO TUESDAY was a great success at DHR!

Employees enjoy CALI TACO for lunch and we were able to help the Ronald McDonald House.  Tacos were served up and we were able to help the Ronald McDonald House. They will be at the Haslet Parking Lot each Tuesday from 11:30 – 2:30.

Congratulations Cindy!

Early Bird Winner is… Cindy Rule!

Cindy Rule

We were able to deliver the gift card to Cindy today for the Early Bird Incentive. For me, SECC is more than just donating a few dollars from my paycheck to a local charity organization. I truly want to give back to those who have helped me, so each year I choose a recipient that has significantly impacted my life in some way. For example, Read-A-Loud was instrumental in helping my daughter form a love of reading, at a time when reading was a challenge for her.

The SmartDrive Foundation provided free online defensive driving to both of my children when they were learning to drive. The American Red Cross assisted my family after a devastating loss. And we adopted a new family member from our local animal shelter. These are just a few examples of the recipients I have chosen, but the list goes on. When you think about it, we rely on non-profit organizations for all kinds of services, whether it be in a time of need or simply in our everyday lives. I hope my story will encourage others to give back to their communities by continuing to participate in the SECC.
