SibShops helps siblings of children with special needs become aware of their emotions, strengths, interests, and responsibilities, and provides growth opportunities. Description:
Every day, Delaware nonprofits provide essential services that support the health and welfare of residents across the state. DANA, the Delaware Alliance for Nonprofit Advancement, works behind the scenes to make these organizations stronger, more effective, and better equipped to serve.
Through the DANA Nonprofit Accelerator Program, we support small nonprofits working across a wide range of issue areas, including education, health, and services for children and families. These organizations are deeply trusted in their communities but often lack the resources and infrastructure needed to grow and sustain their impact. The Accelerator Program provides targeted support such as strategic planning, coaching, board training, and financial and technology assistance. As a result, nonprofits become more stable, better led, and able to serve more people, more effectively and consistently.

Description: As we continue to experience an affordable housing crisis throughout Delaware, maintaining and protecting homeownership is more important than ever. The Delaware Community Reinvestment Action Council has spent nearly 40 years serving clients with lower incomes, who believe their assets are too small to merit “estate planning”. However, we know that especially for low-wealth homeowners, they could be at risk of losing the home or causing their family to lose the home if a sound plan is not in place. Without a plan for wealth transfer, it is more likely that the home might face foreclosure or become Heirs’ Property with no clear legal ownership. Absent a clear title, a homeowner cannot borrow against the home, modify the mortgage, make tax payment arrangements, and receive other assistance they may need. The best way to protect ownership and plan for a smooth transfer upon the death of a homeowner is comprehensive estate planning. At DCRAC, we will continue to educate and provide this necessary service to the community.
Examples of services and/or resources this organization can provide with your contribution:
With each $500 we raise, we are able to provide a low-wealth family legal representation to resolve their tax debts owed to the IRS, or record title to their home, or create planning documents such as wills, power of attorney, and healthcare directive.

Description: An issue facing Delaware communities is one of neighborhood and community instability, borne out of transience, high renter turnover and foreclosure rates. Often, low-income communities see higher transience, renter turnover and foreclosure rates than the rest of the state. The combination of these three instances work to destabilize Delaware’s communities, specifically low-income communities. Stabilized communities are a product of stabilized families, homeownership, positive rental stewardship, and overall, a resident’s connection to their community, all of which Family Promise NNCC effectively accomplishes on a regular basis. The majority of the families we serve are simply down on their luck. A job loss or an unexpected bill in addition to a myriad of other factors led them to lose their housing. A foreclosure or an eviction, both serve to destabilize communities. Vacant units, specifically for long periods of time lead to higher rates of crime, infestation, and potential health hazards to neighboring residents. Additionally, areas with high rates of vacancy lower community property values and are often unattractive to potential residents.
Family Promise NNCC works with families to bolster their capacity to survive independently. A significant portion of individuals living in low income communities lack soft skills necessary to sustainability live independently in the face of stagnant low income wages, rising housing costs, and surprise costs. Family Promise NNCC serves homeless families, those that lack the soft skills necessary to live independently. Family Promise NNCC works with families to develop soft skills such as budgeting, understanding tenant codes, navigating resources available etc. These soft skills empower families served to obtain better jobs, secure housing, maintain their housing, and stabilize their communities.

Description: The Nature Conservancy’s (TNC) programs in Delaware directly enhance the health and welfare of state residents by protecting natural systems that underpin clean water, climate resilience, and community well‑being. As highlighted in TNC’s Delaware Year‑End Review, conservation efforts such as safeguarding freshwater wetlands, restoring coastal habitats, and advancing climate‑resilient land use help reduce flooding, filter pollutants from drinking water sources, and lessen the impacts of extreme heat and storms—key factors for public health and safety in the nation’s lowest‑lying state. TNC’s collaboration with farmers, communities, and policymakers also supports sustainable food systems and cleaner rivers, while protected open spaces and nature preserves provide residents with access to outdoor recreation that benefits both physical and mental health. Together, these initiatives strengthen Delaware’s natural defenses, improve environmental quality, and promote healthier, more resilient communities statewide
Examples of services and/or resources this organization can provide with your contribution:
With contributions, The Nature Conservancy supports Delaware’s coastal and agricultural communities prepare for a changing climate. Our Coastal Resilience Roadmap—developed with partners, community input, and science—guides strategies that protect farmland, safeguard habitat for species, and strengthen the Bayshore communities that rely on these resources. Donor investments also advance our work in the Chesapeake Bay watershed, which covers one‑third of Delaware and supports millions of people, thousands of species, and major economic activity. Healthy lands and waters here directly benefit Delaware’s farms, forests, and communities.
In addition, contributions directly strengthen our ability to advocate for nature‑based solutions. This year, TNC met with U.S. Congresswoman Sarah McBride to discuss support for the Farm Bill, coastal resilience, and sustainable agriculture, and participated in Advocacy Day 2025, where U.S. Senator Lisa Blunt Rochester emphasized the importance of investing in nature for a strong economy and resilient communities. Donor support enables this essential policy engagement and drives meaningful, lasting impact for Delaware.

A child who suffers from a chronic illness, a life-threatening disease or injury (illness, heart attacks, strokes, cancer, birth defects) needs extra special support to maintain a quality of life that will promote a dignified and healthy existence. The majority of these supports are not supported by most insurance companies. Therefore, the services provided by Tender Hearts helps kids to maintain a healthy lifestyle while providing a means for them to be able to safely interact with others out of isolation.

Our Adopt-A-Family Program where who have a medically fragile child are supported with gifts around the Christmas holiday; Our Beads of Courage Program is a bracelet given to children with the intention of providing a source to distract them during treatments; Our ELSA Program which helps school-aged children academically by providing backpacks with school supplies they may use if they are hospitalized; Our “Milestones” Program helps put a smile on a medically-fragile child’s face by offering parents the opportunity to celebrate milestones in their child’s life such as a Birthday and medical milestone.

Description:
The Listening Booth is a live music venue and arts organization in Southern Delaware dedicated to original music. Our intimate space is designed to foster connection between artists and audiences. Performances are welcoming and supportive, creating an environment where both emerging and established musicians share original work.
The Listening Booth and its nonprofit arm, We’re Listening, were born during an intensely isolating moment: the COVID-19 pandemic. Many people were already experiencing disconnection driven by social media, technology, and the loss of shared, in-person spaces. The pandemic didn’t create that loneliness, but it amplified it.
We are building a joyful, inclusive community, particularly for people experiencing isolation or loneliness. We serve all ages and offer programming that reflects that diversity. We host four live music shows weekly, provide private instrumental and vocal lessons, and offer free open mics, songwriting workshops, and jam nights. We also run children’s summer camps and provide scholarships so students from all socioeconomic backgrounds can access music education.
Since our opening in August 2022, we have hosted 500 events, over half of which have been offered free to the community. We’ve held 200 concerts and taught over 2,000 private lessons, helping youth and adults find their voices again–or for the first time.
Our work extends beyond our walls. Our musical director provides live music for the Lewes Library’s weekly children’s storytime. We curate musicians for farmers markets, craft fairs, and community festivals, and we host benefit concerts and fundraisers for local nonprofit organizations.
Located in Delaware’s most rural county, in a region working to bridge resource gaps and the rural/urban divide, we offer a rare opportunity for people to gather across differences. We serve a diverse community, including a strong LGBTQ+ population, and prioritize creating a safe, welcoming space for trans and non-binary artists, youth, and others. Drawn by a shared love of original, live music, our community comes together not just to listen, but to belong.
Recently, we honored Congresswoman Sarah McBride with our inaugural Key Change Award. In her acceptance speech, Congresswoman McBride said, “No matter who you are, no matter your background, no matter your identity, you can feel seen here.” That is the essence of our work. We are an accessible gathering place for people who care about original music, connection, and creative expression. We are an active cultural partner focused on strengthening connection, visibility, and access to the arts.
